Problems with Mounted Mobs

I made a custom zombie and mounted him on a saddled black horse. The issue is that whenever they come to the edge of a level, the horse will spin in circles endlessly.... like this...

Also, cant seem to equip zombies with a jack o' lantern. the term "lit_pumpkin:4" isn't working.
